LIPIZZANS TO COSTA RICA

In December of 2007, a complex project of selecting young, breeding quality horses, and exporting them overseas has started.

An international team of over 20 Lipizzan enthusiasts took part in it so far, and gave their valuable contribution in successful completion of all crucial aspects.

In the meantime Ms. Renata Nemec, a happy and grateful new owner of the horses, continued working on establishing her “Alegria Lipizzans Stud” at her Hacienda Alegria inCosta Rica.

By September of 2008, five beautiful horses of Slovenian and a mare of Serbian origin were ready to cross theAtlantic, where they will continue a long and noble tradition of their ancestors:

A very special recognition goes to all the breeders of those fine horses; many years of hard work and dedication is required to raise such Lipizzans, who will proudly present and carry on the best qualities of this precious breed.

National Stud Lipica (Slovenia), especially Ms. Rebeka Pipan who, with her ambitiousness and responsibility, helped us persists till the end.

National selection authority ofSlovenia, mag. Janez Rus, DVM and his associates who helped us prepare necessary documentation and gave quite some expert advices.

Veterinary Administration of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Matjaž Klemen?i?, DVM, who offered his help under the cover of sector for foreign affairs. He helped us fulfill requirements in certificate for export. Special thanks to Ms. mag. Metka Toplak, DVM and Mr. mag. Andrej Glogovšek, DVM of OE Postojna who help us unselfishly with advices.

Members of Slovenian private breeding organization (ZRLS-PRO), Ms. Karolina Jamnik and whole family of Mr. Ciril Cerk. They graciously offered their stables and help us transport horses toAmsterdamairport.

Member of CFBL, Mr. Tomislav Vu?kovi?, for unselfish support during the transport, helps in advices in the whole project.

To our friends and breeders inGermanyMs. Saskia and Mr. Ronald Verberne who offered their help in blood testing, stables for horses to rest before a long flight and accommodation to all of us who accompanied horses.

Dr. Adrian M.Solano, DVM, of La Palma, Costa Rica; for his generous support, co-ordination of import procedures,  and future health care of the horses.

Mr. Oscar Picado Garro, of La Palma, Costa Rica; for his selfless, never-ending, unlimited support; who will provide a 40 day quarantine, care for the horses during their adjustment to the new environment, as well as his ongoing future care and training.
