Rheinländer
Rheinländer – Where Tradition Meets Modern Sport
Lipizzaners have been part of our family for more than twenty years. We grew up with them; we live alongside them every day, and they have shaped our understanding of what makes a truly good horse.
The Lipizzaner is not only a symbol of tradition but also an exceptionally durable and athletic horse. It is distinguished by strong legs, solid, high-quality hooves, excellent health, and the ability to remain healthy and capable of work throughout a long life. Its calm and steady temperament, willingness to cooperate, and ease of management are qualities we value immensely.
When we decided to expand our breeding program to include Rhineland horses (Rheinländer), we did not want to leave these values behind. On the contrary—we wanted to preserve them.
Our vision was to create a horse that combines the very best of both worlds.
We wanted a larger, more elegant horse with more expressive movement, suitable for modern dressage sport, while preserving the health, durability, economical management, and reliable temperament for which the Lipizzaner is renowned.
We believe that an outstanding sport horse is not defined solely by impressive movement. Equally important are a strong skeletal structure, high-quality hooves, healthy joints, a good work ethic, and a temperament that makes daily training enjoyable. Only when all of these qualities come together do they create a partner capable of competing successfully while remaining healthy and dependable for many years.
We also devote special attention to the upbringing of our young horses.
All of our foals and young horses grow up in herds on the Karst Plateau, where varied terrain, rocky ground, and extensive pastures provide the ideal conditions for natural development. Life on the Karst means constant movement, climbing, and descending across uneven terrain, which strengthens their bones, tendons, ligaments, and joints from the very first months of life. This type of upbringing develops excellent balance, sure-footedness, and natural athleticism that stay with them throughout their lives.
Life in the herd is equally important. Young horses learn respect, confidence, and social behavior, allowing them to mature into calm, stable, and self-assured partners.
Our goal is not simply to breed a successful sport horse.
Our goal is to breed a horse that is healthy, durable, intelligent, and willing to cooperate. A horse that combines the elegance and movement of the modern dressage horse with the strength, soundness, and character that we have come to know and appreciate in Lipizzaners over decades.
We believe that this balance represents the future of responsible sport horse breeding.
